Psychotherapy in English in Munich
Compassionate Psychological Support in English for Internationals and Locals in Munich
Psychological support can be especially important when life becomes overwhelming, when difficult experiences continue to affect everyday life, or when a serious illness brings emotional challenges that are difficult to navigate alone.
In my private practice in Munich, I offer psychotherapy sessions in English as well as German, providing a confidential and supportive space for international patients, English-speaking residents, and anyone who feels more comfortable expressing their thoughts and emotions in English.
My therapeutic focus
Therapeutic Focus
My clinical work focuses particularly on trauma therapy and medical psychology and psycho-oncology.
Trauma
Traumatic experiences can affect the way we feel, think, relate to others, and experience our own bodies. Therapy can help you better understand these reactions, develop greater emotional stability, and gradually process experiences that continue to cause distress.
Medical psychology
I also support people who are facing serious physical illnesses, as well as their partners and family members. A diagnosis or prolonged medical treatment can affect many areas of life and may bring anxiety, uncertainty, grief, changes in identity, or difficulties coping with everyday life.
Psycho-oncology
Psycho-oncological support can provide a space to address these experiences and develop individual ways of coping.
Support for English-speaking patients in Munich
Munich is home to a large and diverse international community. Moving to a new country, building a life away from home, or navigating the German healthcare system can present additional emotional challenges. For some people, speaking with a therapist in their first or preferred language can make it easier to talk openly about personal experiences.
I offer psychotherapy in English for international professionals, expatriates, students and other English-speaking adults living in Munich and the surrounding area. You do not need to speak German to seek therapy in my practice.
The therapeutic process is individually tailored to your needs, personal history, and current situation. Whether you are seeking support following a traumatic experience, dealing with the psychological impact of a physical illness, or going through a difficult period in your life, therapy can offer a protected space to reflect, understand, and work towards meaningful change.

Appointments in English are available by arrangement in my private practice in Munich. Therapy sessions at my private practice are not covered by statutory health insurance in Germany.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Frequently asked questions about psychotherapy
Yes. Psychotherapy sessions can be conducted in English. While English is not my native language, I am comfortable providing psychotherapy in English and working with international and English-speaking clients.
Not at all. You do not need to speak English perfectly to benefit from psychotherapy. What matters most is that you feel able to express yourself and discuss what is important to you. We can take the time needed to make sure we understand each other.
No. As a non-native English speaker myself, I understand that communicating personal and emotional experiences in another language can sometimes require additional time or clarification. I approach this openly and with sensitivity.
Yes. If you feel more comfortable expressing something in German, we can incorporate German into our sessions. We can also discuss your preferred language depending on the topic and situation.
That is completely okay. You can take your time, describe something in a different way, or use German if necessary. Psychotherapy is not an English language test — the goal is to understand your experience, not to speak perfect English.
Yes. English-language psychotherapy can be particularly helpful for people living away from their home country, international professionals, students, expatriates, or anyone who simply feels more comfortable discussing personal matters in English.
Open communication is an important part of therapy. If something is unclear or a particular word or expression has a different meaning for you, we can clarify it together. Cultural and linguistic differences can also be an important part of understanding your individual perspective.
The initial consultation gives us an opportunity to get to know each other, discuss your concerns, and see whether working together feels right for you. You are welcome to ask any questions you may have about psychotherapy in English.
